I Need Treatment or Detox

One free phone call can get you into detox or treatment — with or without insurance.

One call starts everything.

Free screening by phone, 24/7. They connect you to detox and treatment — insurance or not.

Start here

  1. One call starts everything. Washtenaw County Community Mental Health answers 24/7. They do a free screening over the phone and connect you to detox and treatment — with or without insurance.

  2. Or call a local program directly. Dawn Farm, Home of New Vision, and U-M Addiction Treatment Services all take calls from people who want help. Their numbers are below.

  3. Are you a veteran? The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System treats substance use — outpatient and residential. Call the main line.

  4. Anywhere in the country, any hour: the SAMHSA helpline is free and confidential, and findtreatment.gov lists every licensed program.

  5. Get free Narcan. It reverses opioid overdoses and anyone can carry it. Free vending machines and pickup boxes are all over the county — libraries, fire stations, and the Health Department lobby. No cost, no ID, no questions.

Medications like Suboxone or methadone are real treatment and they save lives. Any program on this page can talk with you about medication options.

If that doesn't work

  • If withdrawal feels dangerous — bad shaking, sweating, confusion, or past seizures — go to the ER or call 911. Hospitals must help you.

  • Dial 2-1-1 any time. A real person will help you figure out the next step.
